The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is the leading organization of child health professionals in the world. The AAP set an ambitious goal to re-design, re-platform, and re-structure its primary, professional Web site in less than one year. The site is currently visited over 500,000 times per month and is the primary digital interface between the AAP and its 60,000 members worldwide.
The AAP hired Balanced Growth Consulting to lead this ambitious program. In less than one year, the new AAP.org was successfully launched on December 19, 2011. The program included a complete overhaul of every aspect of the site including the look and feel, navigation, key functionality, and content. Over 50 executives and staff from the AAP and Manifest Digital were part of the program led by Jason Bordui and the team from Balanced Growth Consulting.
The project team analyzed over 47,000 rows of content that included 14,000 pages in the scope of Release 1.0. Over 7,000 pages were migrated to the new site. Additionally, a new center for members called MyAAP was created to provide a customized experience for each member of the AAP. The site was also converted to a new technology architecture featuring a new Content Management System, search engine, and consistent Web and database technologies.
Finally, in order to ensure continuous improvement over time, a new publishing and maintenance process and structure was implemented in conjunction with the development of the site.
